Officer Wounded, Woman Killed in Nashville Shootout During Traffic Stop

What began as a routine traffic stop in Nashville quickly escalated into a deadly confrontation. Officer Josh Baker pulled over a car linked to wanted felon Demond Buchanan, only to find 31-year-old Nika Holbert behind the wheel.

Bodycam footage shows Baker discovering a suspicious substance in her purse. When he tried to arrest her, Holbert resisted, shouting she had done nothing wrong. She jumped into the car, ignored a Taser, and pulled a gun, shooting Baker.

Despite being hit, the officer returned fire. Holbert fled but crashed nearby and later died from her injuries. Baker survived after emergency surgery. The incident, now under investigation by the TBI, has sparked debate on escalation, police response, and public trust.

Holbert’s mother mourns the tragedy, acknowledging her daughter’s mistake while questioning the fatal outcome. The footage sheds light—but not closure.
