!!Officer Wounded, Woman Killed in Nashville Shootout During Traffic Stop

What began as a routine traffic stop in Nashville quickly spiraled into tragedy. Officer Josh Baker pulled over a black Chevrolet Camaro registered to wanted felon Demond Buchanan. Behind the wheel was 31-year-old Nika Holbert, who initially appeared cooperative.

Bodycam footage shows Baker finding a suspicious powder in her purse. When he tried to arrest her, Holbert resisted, shouting she’d done nothing wrong. She jumped into the car, ignored a Taser, and drew a handgun. Baker yelled, “Put the gun down!” but was shot below his vest.

Despite being wounded, Baker returned fire as Holbert sped off. She crashed nearby, discarding her weapon, and later died at the hospital. Baker underwent surgery and is expected to recover.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is reviewing the case, while Police Chief John Drake emphasized Baker’s attempts at non-lethal measures. Holbert’s adoptive mother acknowledged her daughter’s mistake but questioned the deadly outcome, highlighting how fear and split-second decisions can turn routine stops into irreversible tragedy.
